Are there any rules for a baby naming ceremony?
Does it matter if the parents are not married? Or not together?
Do the parents need to belong to the same religion?
Does it matter if there is only one parent?
The answer to all of the above is "No".
There are no rules or legal requirements for a baby naming ceremony. The parents just promise to love the baby unconditionally, and to try and be the best parents they can be.
There can be one Godparent or seven. Or they can be called guardians or mentors. And it doesn't matter what religion they are - or if they are not religious at all. They just have to promise to be committed to assisting the child to be brought up surrounded by love.
Where is a baby naming ceremony held?
Ceremonies can be conducted in the local park, on your back deck, or under a shady tree.
Who conducts a baby naming ceremony?
A civil celebrant is able to conduct your baby naming ceremony. They will offer you suggestions for music, poems, and ways that your guests can be involved.
